Old Glory stands as both tribute and transformation—a contemporary reimagining of the American flag that celebrates the enduring spirit of Americana. Crafted with over 325 individually designed mosaic tiles, the work is a patchwork of tradition and innovation. Bandana blocks, engraved wooden tiles threaded and hand-crocheted, and Americana-inspired motifs come together to honor a symbol that has long embodied unity, resilience, and national pride.

The inspiration reaches back to the centuries-old tradition of American embroidery samplers. Since the 1600s, these samplers offered needleworkers a space to showcase skill, pattern, and narrative—each stitch an act of devotion, each motif a fragment of cultural memory. Old Glory carries that legacy forward, expanding the language of craft through a distinctly modern lens.

Every tile tells its own story, yet together they form a single flag—layering Spanish tile–inspired patterns, tapestry-like textures, laser-cut details, cross-stitched yarn tiles, bandana appliqué, and embroidered icons. Vintage and hand-dyed fabrics are cut, stitched, and assembled into a mosaic that radiates both history and contemporary artistry.

The result is a surface alive with movement and meaning. From a distance, the flag unfurls with familiar boldness; up close, it reveals a kaleidoscope of Americana—each square a miniature act of homage, each detail an invitation to look closer, reflect, and remember.
