Aqua Art Show
Aqua Art Show - Art Basel Miami Stephen Wilson Studio had the pleasure of once again attending the 2022 Aqua Art Show in South Beach, Miami. This unique fair is the premier location for art aficionados with a roster of well respected international galleries showcasing the numerous artists' works. The show has a consistently relaxed yet energetic vibe that entices not only the artists but also the public. We had the best time showcasing pieces from our Luxury, Albums, Neutral, and Petites Collections in the warm climate of Miami Beach. With approximately 50 exhibitors already, the fair's popularity is growing fast with more attendees at each edition. We are thrilled to go back this upcoming December 2023 to exhibit, meet with more artists and collectors, as well as exchange thoughts and ideas with those in the shows good-natured atmosphere.

Heart Cascades
Heart Cascade - 26”x40” For this new piece I wanted to combine a few different techniques into a large cascading collage of hearts. The techniques include appliqué hearts that are created using luxury scarves.There are numerous scarves used for each collage. Each scarf is meticulously chosen and embroidered. There are also ribbon hearts that are created by layering luxury ribbons by Hermes, Chanel and Gucci. The ribbons are placed side by side, stitched and then appliquéd. There are also hearts created with layers of yarn as well as direct embroidery. All of the hearts are combined into an exquisite cascade, each piece is unique.

Fantasy Tree
Fantasy Tree - 96”x40” The Fantasy tree is the largest piece that I have created to date.The installation is is comprised of seven panels that are each 12”x40” and together when hung, measure 96”x40”. The Fantasy Tree was inspired by vintage De Gourney wall paper. I want to explore vintage chinoiserie patterns with embroidery. The background is created using vintage linen fabric that is quilted with tatami stitches with the tree and leaves stitched in exquisite detail. The background was then mounted and the edges hand pulled and fringed. Hundreds of miniature lace flowers were then collaged onto the piece to add further dimension. Embroidered birds and butterflies were added to the installation to truly capture the majesty of the fantasy tree.

The New Butterflies

COUTURE 2022
We had a blast this past Couture show at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas! This show allowed us to showcase our newest collection of luxury pieces as well as connect, collaborate, and conduct business with top-tier buyers. As the first non-jewelry business to attend the show, we couldn't be more thankful to have had the opportunity to experience this glamorous event in addition to working with some of the finest retailers in the luxury market. Thank you to all of the retail partners at this show and to new ones now carrying work from the studio!

Iconic Petites
Inspired by iconography, pop art, and vintage patches, this newest petite series is sure to catch your eye! With so many different styles and icons to select from, it's hard to pick just one favorite. From UFO's, mushrooms, disco balls and skulls, these fun petites are unlike anything we've ever done before. The pop art design of each takes on imagery from popular and mass cultural objects. The psychedelic style of the icons show intricate detail with a groovy influence of the late '60s. Not only are these petites truly unique, but the bold and bright colors of each make it a perfect pair with their up-cycled backgrounds of vibrant orange Hermes boxes, blue Tiffany, green Gucci and lots more. Each petite piece from this Iconic Series is made with various up-cycled luxury materials. The embroidered icons on each petite have been hand digitized and mounted over different styles of backgrounds. The mounting process provides depth to each piece, giving that super iconic and show stopping look. Each fun little 5" x 5" piece is framed in an acrylic casing and shipped in luxury packaging.

Collaboration with Katy
We had the pleasure of working with Katy Harrell recently on some custom designed pieces! From selecting the background canvas of up-cycled luxury material, to the silk scarves and desired style, every detail was personalized! And we are so happy with how each piece turned out! We incorporated Katy's favorite designers; Dior, Chanel, Gucci and Louis Vuitton, into the most unique works of art. We came up with a 6 block grid made of three custom designed pieces and a 12" x 40" 'Triple Love' piece. Once finished, each piece was framed and hung up in Katy's lovely home. Thank you Katy for collaborating with us on this project! It sure was a lot of fun!

Art Basel Miami Week: Recap
Art Basel Miami week has come to a close after an exciting week of fairs, special installations, gallery openings, and art events. Stephen is humbled by the overwhelming enthusiasm towards his new Luxury Graffiti series, which debuted at Aqua Art Miami - his colorful small works in acrylic were a delight. The special solo artist invitation from Aqua gave Stephen a great opportunity to showcase an experimental and immersive experience for attendees, including drawing crowds to the live embroidery demos and giving away 800 signature original pins in less than three hours during the VIP opening. A special congratulations also to Art Angels on the grand opening of their second location in Miami’s Design District. Thanks to Art Angels, Stephen’s fully embroidered skateboard deck series can be seen hanging amongst their curation of superb contemporary artists at the new space, as well as his custom butterfly installation at the Nobu Eden Roc. Stephen’s work was also on view at the Delano South Beach and Ola Restaurant with huge thanks to DTR Modern Galleries. Last but not least, he exhibited at Scope Art Show with Roman Fine Art.

This week Stephen was announced as a selected artist for ArtPop Charlotte's Class of 2019, where his art will be displayed on a billboard, in the Charlotte Douglas airport and other public areas all throughout 2019. The selected piece is a crop of a larger custom acrylic and glass table, Say You’ll Love Me Every Waking Moment, that is filled with individually embroidered butterflies and pigment paint. ArtPop is a 501c3 organization that gives communities across the country greater access to art, by supporting the artists that create it. With a gallery spanning Charlotte’s city streets (and beyond), ArtPop Street Gallery has brought the work of local artists to the attention of our town as well as united the Queen City community through an artful urban landscape. http://www.artpopstreetgallery.com/index/#/charlotte-nc-2018-1/
