The New West: Stitching Grit into Legacy
This series reimagines the American West through hand-stitched works that blend heritage, craft, and storytelling. Composed from vintage textiles—feed sacks, tarps, tents, seed sacks, old uniforms, and early luxury goods—each piece carries the raw material history of the frontier in its fibers.
Deconstructed and reassembled through intricate quilting and embroidery, some works contain up to a million stitches layered over dozens of hours. Every repair, crease, and faded thread is preserved as a testament to resilience—honoring the wear, not erasing it.
Select pieces feature backgrounds made from deconstructed designer handbags and packaging, transforming traditional luxury into textured, sculptural compositions. These elements create a striking dialogue between refinement and reinvention.
Western motifs—broncos, trick riders, steer skulls, and waving flags—are embroidered in vivid threads, rising from the surface with dimensional force. Each piece stands as a tactile tribute to the grit, grace, and enduring mythos of the American West.
Heritage reworked. History remembered—one stitch at a time.
12x12x2 inches, framed in acrylic.
