These intricate creations were originally crafted for my Americana series a few years ago. The show was entirely Western-themed, conceived and constructed specifically for Lincoln Center’s presentation of “The Girl of the West” opera. Following the exhibition, each piece was individually framed and sold. The series explored themes of feminism within the American West and was also featured in my book, Luscious Threads.
Recently, I revisited this collection as I developed new pieces for my Western series. I’ve reimagined some of the original Americana works with fresh perspectives—using vintage fabrics, resizing, and employing new fabrication techniques. The process involves embroidering hundreds of tiny designs, then mounting and assembling them into large, striking mosaics. The result is visually stunning, with intricate detail that reveals itself from various distances.
The colors for each piece can be customized, each variation is ne of a kind.
Each piece’s title is available in multiple sizes, achieved by adjusting the size of the individual tiles:
Square Pieces
-
36” x 36”: 2” blocks
-
54” x 54”: 3” blocks
-
72” x 73”: 4” blocks
Rectangle Pieces
-
50” x 26”: 2” blocks
-
75” x 39”: 3” blocks
-
100” x 52”: 4” blocks
All works are designed to be displayed floating on the wall without a frame. However, they can be custom-framed in reclaimed wood or acrylic—please note that framing may extend the lead time.
Shipping and delivery charges will be quoted individually, given the size and complexity of each piece.
