Soundgarden, Badmotorfinger
Soundgarden, Badmotorfinger
SKU:Soundgarden, Badmotorfinger
Embroidered patches mounted over embroidery stitched directly through a vinyl record sleeve.
12x12x2 inches, framed in acrylic.
Badmotorfinger was Soundgarden’s breakthrough album from 1991 with songs like Rusty Cage and Jesus Christ Pose. Grunge music was in full swing and Soundgarden quickly gained their place as one of the best rock groups in the country. They went on to create a few more albums before Chris Cornell co-founded Audio Slave and then had a successful solo career before his death in 2017. The album features a sawtooth graphic over a blurry photograph. The logo contains the album title and the band's name is in bold lettering at the top. I started the piece by embroidering abstract stitches in wool thread for the background and stitching directly through the album. The rest of the album was created using embroidered patches. I created the large saw toothed patch first, followed by all of the lettering as individual patches. Each patch was hand trimmed and then mounted onto the album.
