Embroidery stitched directly through a vinyl record sleeve.
12x12x2 inches, framed in acrylic.
This was one of my favorite albums as a kid, it was the only Aerosmith album I owned until their comeback in the late 80’s. Only half of their logo is visible from the front of the album with the other half seen from the back. This is a very graphic style cover so I thought it would look great mixed in to create contrast with all of the photography of the other albums I've embroidered so I decided to open the sleeve. I created this piece using a few different layers. The first layer was red glitter fabric that was embroidered with repeating motifs of guitars and basses stitched as silhouettes in red thread. The next step was a layer of white glitter fabric, stitched and laser cut to form the logo. Additional stitching was used for the detail in the logo and the lettering.
