The Majestic Butterflies reimagine one of my favorite subjects—the butterfly—through a vibrant and innovative lens. I begin with the graceful silhouette of a butterfly, transforming its wings into a canvas of intricate imagery and symbols that culminate in a fresh, captivating masterpiece. Every detail of the butterfly is meticulously hand-digitized, with each wing adorned in a rich tapestry of themes such as Celestial wonders, serene Buddhas, mystical Tarots, lush florals, spiritual motifs, and the vibrant essence of Animalia.
To bring each Majestic Butterfly to life, I first craft and embroider the background on luxurious up-cycled boxes. The background is artfully stitched in harmonious colors that enhance the butterfly's presence. The butterfly itself is brought to life through an astonishing 500,000 stitches of embroidery thread, giving it a dimensional quality that makes it seem to float effortlessly above the canvas.
