Led Zeppelin IV is probably the most famous album of all time. The album contains hits like Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Stairway to Heaven and Misty Mountain Top plus many others. The album was released in 1971 and became an instant classic, with current sales at around 28,000,000 copies sold. The album is on almost every list of the top 100 albums of all time. The graphics for the album don’t resemble a classic rock album at all. The cover features a vintage thrift shop painting mounted on a crumbling wall, there is no typography or logos on the cover to even let you know who it is. When embroidering the album cover I decided to do something different. I embroidered the painting and background with abstract embroidery stitched in about 50 tonal colors. When finished I felt that the album needed something to make it pop off the wall so I embroidered a vintage running stitch flower in bright thread over the cover. I selected a different color thread for each of the 9 pieces.
