The Beggars Banquet album by The Rolling Stones was released with a few different covers. One was the graffiti wall of a restroom and the other was simply The title of the album in an elegant script over a cream background. I had trouble finding the restroom themed album, it is much more rare but I wound up finding a few of the vintage script album covers. Since an album cover with only script on it seemed a little boring for this series, I decided to improvise. I had noticed that the iconic Rolling Stones lips that were created by Andy Warhol never made an appearance on an album until recently I decided to add the lips to the Beggars Banquet album. I embroidered the lips and background of the cream area in multiple shades of neutral wool and cashmere yarn. I embroidered geometric abstract stitching in the background and concentric stitching for the lips. The lettering was then stitched on top of the yarn in black rayon thread.
