When I design an artwork, I typically create it with a specific size and concept in mind. However, as I engage with clients, they often inquire about alternative versions: Can it be smaller? Larger? In a different color? Some pieces adapt remarkably well to these changes, while others do not. The Cherry Blossoms, without a doubt, exemplify versatility in my portfolio.

The Cherry Blossom Series

The original Cherry Blossom artwork was a five-piece pentaptych I crafted for a collector several years ago. The background was ingeniously composed from strips of Dior boxes, providing a unique texture, and it featured over 200 individually placed dimensional blossoms and butterflies. The stunning end result allowed me to move on to other commissions, feeling fulfilled yet curious about the potential variations of this piece.

A few months later, I found myself pondering, "What if I altered this design?" This led to the creation of a charming 12”x12” version, crafted from different upcycled boxes, which turned out beautifully. Encouraged by its success, I went on to produce a 12”x26” piece in multiple configurations, as well as a triptych and a 26”x26” version. I even ventured into designing petite pieces adorned with tiny flowers that exquisitely captured the essence of my original concept. The latest iteration is a captivating 40”x40” piece that has become a centerpiece in my collection.

The artistry behind each Cherry Blossom piece lies in the details: each flower is individually embroidered and then collaged onto the cherry tree branches after being stitched through the background. This dimensional approach not only ensures that each creation is distinct but also adds depth and vibrancy that conventional embroidery cannot achieve. The butterflies, too, are carefully embroidered and placed with intention, enhancing the overall beauty of the composition.

I am pleased to offer the Cherry Blossom pieces in any size and color configuration, allowing for a personalized touch to fit your space and style. Additionally, I always keep a few pieces in stock for those who need one ready for a special occasion or immediate enjoyment.

Warm regards,
Stephen
