When Tesla landed on the scene in 1986 they were a breath of fresh air. At the time, hair metal was at it's height and bands like Poison and Motley Crue were the biggest bands in the world. Most bands had an arena rock vibe and Tesla sounded like a pure rock N roll club band. They didn’t have a theatrical presence; t-shirt, jeans and rock'n'roll. They had a number of hits and two great guitar players driving the band. I remember seeing them live on this tour opening for Def Leppard in the Meadowlands NJ, and when they came on stage they blew the crowd away. I’m glad I was able to see them live. The album cover features artwork based on Nicoli Tesla with lighting bolts sparks and a globe. I stitched the background in abstract wool stitches and layers of metallic threads to depict the sparks. The logo and lightening bolts as well as the text around the outside edges of the piece were created as patches and collaged onto the album as a final step.

The albums take up to 8 hours to embroider and can contain over 200,000 stitches. The series is created and designed to be hung together so you can add to your installation wall as you discover new pieces I create. Each of the albums comes with a signed certificate and is framed in acrylic and measures 12" x 12" x 2".
