Ever since a very young age I have considered myself a music aficionado. I may not remember what I ate for lunch but I can remember bands discographies, members and concert tours from 25 years ago. This series has allowed me to reminisce about bands I listened to as a teenager as well as discover new music that I haven’t yet come across. The Vegabonds fall into the undiscovered category. A very good client commissioned me to create the album “V” by the band and I had to admit that I had never heard of them. I immediately listened to them online and I am a new fan, they remind me of Zac Brown, a little Black Crowe’s and Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real. My favorite part of this series is that I get to discover music that I may never have come across. The album features a mirrored image of a mountain scene with two eagles soaring together to form the V. I started by stitching the sky in light blue and grey wool thread in sweeping free motion strokes. The mountains and fog were also stitched using free motion stitching with the eagles stitched as patches in rayon thread and applied at the end.
