Each pom pom is carefully crafted from up-cycled luxury scarves, hand selected for their exquisite patterns. Most of the scarves used are remnants from those we use for our silhouette and love pieces. Individually hand-rolled and inserted, these pom poms come together to form a stunning mosaic. Hundreds of these handmade pom poms are required to create each piece, with a range in sizes from 1/2" to 2". The combination of various sizes and scarves creates a truly magical effect.
Each piece starts like a puzzle
Each Pom Pom is created by wrapping a silk scarf around a wooden ball. The balls are all different sizes to come up with each pattern Stephen creates a silhouette of the shape and hand places each ball into place. He will move them around until the desired effect is achieved.
Each Pom Pom is hand rolled and selected for the piece
The step that takes the longest is created the Pom Poms for each piece. The luxury silk scarves are hand cut and wrapped around each ball and then tied off, like little balloons. They are then sorted by size.
Creating each piece one at a time
Each of the Pom Poms are laid out into the pattern to find the perfect colors for the piece. This is the most labour intensive part of the design process and also the most enjoyable. Once selected they are glued in place onto the background.
We create a wide variety of pieces using the Pom Poms, everything from Hearts to Horses in sizes from 12"x12" to 40"x40"
